Year 3

Welcome to Year 3!

We just wanted to take this opportunity to welcome you all to Year 3 and to say how well your children are settling.  They are a wonderful addition to the junior site. Our topic this term is called ‘We Will Remember’ where we will be learning about World War One.

As the timetable is different to the infant site, we understand that the pupils need to take time to adapt to it. At break times the children are allowed to bring in a healthy snack. It would also be good to see all year 3 children with a water bottle for use in between lessons.  This should have a sports cap and be named to ensure it is taken home at the end of the day.

We would also like to make you aware of some key days for your diaries for the coming term:

P.E.

Please bring in a named PE kit: shorts/tracksuit bottoms, t-shirt/jumper and plimsolls.  PE is on the following days:

3L – Tuesday afternoon

3G – Monday afternoon

Swimming

Please ensure that on your child’s swimming day they have their swimming kit in school. This should include: swimming costume/ trunks, hat, goggles and a towel. Swimming is on the following days:

3L – Thursday morning

3G – Wednesday morning

Beach School

Beach school takes place every week in the juniors. Each child will require a pair of wellington boots, a waterproof jacket and some outdoor clothes to change into.

3L - Wednesday morning

3G – Thursday morning

Reading

It is important that the children read regularly (4 times a week) and that a comment is made in their reading record.  If you would like to discuss your child’s reading with your class teacher we are available.

Spellings

Spellings will be sent out every Friday and they will be tested the following Friday. The children should all learn the words on the spelling list as they will be playing games using the new words throughout the following week.

Kind Regards

Miss Lees and Miss Grimwade.
