Peacehaven Heights Primary School & Nursery

Unfortunately some schools are currently experiencing low governor numbers and are experiencing difficulty in recruiting new governors with the necessary experience and expertise required to fully support the leadership team.

With the new term rapidly approaching we are aware of some schools that require a boost to governance skills and experience due to issues such as:

  • the school reaching a critical point of school improvement
  • the governing board struggling to find a chair of governors from within
  • school within or close to an Ofsted inspection window

We are particularly interest to hear from governors on the coastal strip of Newhaven, Peacehaven and Telscombe Cliffs.

We are therefore seeking experienced governors who are willing and able to volunteer to support schools governance across the county.

Who do we need?

We would like to identify:

  • Experienced governors - who can join an additional Governing Board or who are prepared to change schools to boost experience and provide additional capacity.
  • Experienced Chair or Vice Chair of Governors or Chairs of Committees - who would be willing to offer support to another governing board.
  • Experienced governors from the maintained sector willing to consider volunteering for schools that have recently become academies.

How do I find out more or express an interest?

The primary purpose of the Governing Body is in the role of critical friend to the school, to support the headteacher in determining the strategy and direction of the school, the proper implementation of statutory requirements and the monitoring and evaluation of the development plan, through active participation in the school improvement programme.

It is the responsibility of the Governing Body to support the school and ensure that it is effectively led and managed. The Governing Body monitors the performance of the school, how well it is led and the effect of its leadership and management on the quality and standards of education, personal development and well-being of the children.

Peacehaven Heights Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and governors to share this commitment. All staff, volunteers and governors will hold an Enhanced DBS check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services.

Copies of the minutes of Governor's meetings are available on request, from our school office.
