Remembrance Service

Our Pupils Attend Annual Remembrance Service at the War Memorial in the Meridian Park

On Friday 11th November the Year 5 and 6 pupil governors attended the annual remembrance service at War Memorial in the Meridian Park. The service was attended by all of the local schools and amongst others included; members of the armed services – past and present, the Royal British Legion, Rev. Tim Mills , Jon Borthwick – our chair of governors and the mayors and local councillors from both Peacehaven and Telscombe.

Our Year 5 and 6 pupil governors; Lily, Emilia, Alex, Preston, Harrison, Lorenzo, Ellis and Ava were an absolute credit to our school and their families, and both members of the public and those attending the service commented upon their good behaviour.

Whilst waiting for the service to begin the children were fortunate enough to meet Ron Chiverton who had bravely fought and experienced the true horrors of the Second World War. In 1945 at the age of just 19 Ron was serving with the War Crimes Group in North West Germany when he entered the Bergen-Belson Concentration Camp.
